European Training week

Erasmus + project “Real Maths Talk”

The training week for the Erasmus+ projecthas finished today, it started on Sunday, 26 March with the arrival of the international delegations: Poland, The Netherlands, Lithuania, Turkey and United Kingdom, which are involved in the “Real Maths Talk” project, hosted by  the IISS “Cardarelli” in Tarquinia which represents Italy.

During the meeting that has been held in the two school buildings, “Centrale” and “Lido”, maths teachers involved in the project examined, corrected and evaluated the results of the test created during the former meeting in Lithuania. Such test was handed out to the first and second year students of the schools participating to the project. The Italian students obtained the best outcomes.

The meetings allowed to compare and deal with didactic methodologies and techniques used by maths teachers to address, in their own classes, common subjects selected by the Erasmus team. Many teachers followed one another in the classrooms and made classes in English and Italian about various subjects like the straight line, first and second degree inequalities or the Ruffini’s rule, obtaining the students’ approval. Although amazed by the presence of such numerous teachers in their classrooms, students have attended with great participation the activities and they did exercises both on the black board and on the IWB (Interactive Whiteboard).

The European teachers appreciated the methodologies applied by the Italian teachers and believe that Italian students are well prepared on the subject.

Furthermore the Italian team took the delegation to visit the most important sites in Tarquinia: the National Etruscan Museum and the Necropolis, our students contribute to give value to some of these sites through didactic projects and activities like the “Oasi delle Saline” (Salt pans Oasis) or the “Labirinto della memoria” (The Labyrinth of memory).

The foreign teachers appreciated the hospitality given by our school and the rich and tasty gastronomic variety that they tried during their stay in Italy.
